The first meeting of BRICS finance ministers and central bank governors under Russia's BRICS Chairship took place in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on 27 February.

Russian Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov and First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia Vladimir Chistyukhin spoke about the priorities of the financial track and the Chairship’s goal of improving the international monetary and financial system.

Meeting participants discussed the outlook for global economic development, the state of BRICS economies, issues relevant to cooperation on customs and taxation, mixed financing for infrastructure projects, the launch of the BRICS Financial Research Network, expanding cooperation in insurance and reinsurance, and improved collaboration between BRICS member coibtries’ stock exchanges.

BRICS Ministers of Finance and Central Bank Governors will meet on 27 February 2024 in Sao Paulo on the sidelines of the G20 ministerial meeting. This will mark the first in-person meeting of BRICS financial officials attended by representatives of countries that became full BRICS members on 1 January 2024.
