Meetings of the subgroups of the Counterterrorism Working Group concerning foreign terrorist fighters, combatting the financing of terrorism, deradicalization, preventing the use of the Internet for terrorist purposes, and strengthening law enforcement capacity

The BRICS Counter-Terrorism Working Group (CTWG) held its ninth plenary session on 22–24 July 2024.

The delegations exchanged assessments of current terrorist threats on a global and regional scale and discussed cooperation in combatting money laundering and financing terrorism, the spread of radical ideology, the use of the Internet for illegal purposes, and suppressing the activities of foreign terrorist fighters.

During the meeting, the parties adopted the CTWG position document with recommendations for the further development of specialized cooperation, including using the UN platform.
