24th Meeting of BRICS Steering Committee Meeting on Science, Technology, and Innovation held online

On 23 April the 24th BRICS Steering Committee Meeting on Science, Technology, and Innovation was held online and attended by national coordinators from the new member countries.

The BRICS STI Steering Committee was established to oversee the work of thematic groups in astronomy, biotechnology and biomedicine, healthcare and neuroscience, new and renewable energies and energy efficiency, materials science and nanotechnology, the study and application of geospatial technologies, the management of natural disasters, research infrastructures and mega-science projects, the financing of science, technology, and innovation, photonics, ICT and high-performance computing, the development of entrepreneurship and partnerships for innovation in science and technology, marine and polar cooperation, and LED light sources

BRICS members’ current policies and strategies for science and technology were discussed during the meeting, as well as the events planned as part of Russia’s BRICS Chairship.
