BRICS Deputy Foreign Ministers / Special Envoys Meet in Moscow to Discuss Middle East and North Africa

On 25 April BRICS Deputy Foreign Ministers / Special Envoys held Consultations on the Middle East and North Africa in Moscow under the chairship of the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov. The meeting was attended by high-ranking representatives, including the new BRICS members.

Regional issues were discussed, including the catastrophic situation and the need for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Viewpoints were also exchanged on how to normalize the situation and resolve ongoing crises in Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Libya, and Yemen.

Meeting participants agreed to keep close contact and combine efforts to promote political and diplomatic solutions to the problems facing the Middle East. They also agreed to work together on a wide range of issues in various international platforms, first and foremost through the United Nations.

The meeting concluded with the adoption of a joint statement.
