EMERCOM Russia Participates in BRICS Crisis Management Centre Training

The hotline staff of BRICS crisis management centres conducted training on the rapid exchange of information in times of emergency on instructions of Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations Head Alexander Kurenkov as part of Russia’s Chairship of BRICS in 2024.

The training sought to test the reliability of existing communication channels, to work out the timely exchange of information, and to improve coordination among BRICS emergency services crisis management centres in the event of an emergency situation.

Participants in the training session followed precise instructions to organize rapid responses to a hypothetical emergency situation - a devastating earthquake in a Russian region.

Specialists on duty worked in real time on a wide range of issues from the initial exchange of information and the establishment of reliable communications to the delivery of humanitarian aid for the people affected by the event.

The individuals participating in the training session spoke afterwards of how such training for an international humanitarian emergency response helped strengthen ties between BRICS countries and improved the ability of the participating countries to coordinate their responses to natural and man-made emergencies.

The Roscongress Foundation manages the events of Russia’s BRICS Chairship.
