The BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group Meets for the Second Time under the Russian Chairship
On 6-7 June 2024 back-to-back with the gatherings of the competent UN format, Vienna hosted the second BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group (ACWG) in 2024.
The ACWG continued the drafting of a key position document on the BRICS common vision of how to enhance the effectiveness of anti-corruption cooperation and asset recovery. The delegations had a productive exchange of views on other major issues, including the future of the Mechanism for the Review of Implementation of the UN Convention against Corruption. Additionally, a special event on anti-corruption education and training and youth empowerment was organised in cooperation with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime.
The ACWG meeting proved the significant interest the BRICS countries have in sharing their expertise and stepping up cooperation in countering corruption, as well as their common approach to key issues on the international anti-corruption agenda.
