BRICS Officials Discuss Cooperation in Secondary Vocational Education
The BRICS Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Cooperation Alliance held a seminar in a hybrid format on 29 May 2024. The event served as the platform for the third BRICS TVET Institution President Forum and was attended by Russian Deputy Minister of Education Denis Gribov, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Public Relations of the Russian Ministry of Education Usman Rassukhanov, and Director of the Department of State Policy in Secondary Vocational Education and Vocational Training of the Russian Ministry of Education Viktor Neumyvakin.
In his welcoming address to the event participants, Denis Gribov stressed the Ministry’s interest in developing and promoting the goals of BRICS.
“The Alliance’s agenda is expanding with each passing year. New opportunities for cooperation, exchange of experience, and joint development are emerging for participants. Our colleagues from countries that join the BRICS Alliance are ready to engage in our work. There is a special responsibility in vocational education and training. The secondary vocational education system is not only creating labour potential, but also a new system of values and relationships based on respect, acknowledgement of diversity and trust,” Gribov said.
The event was attended by employees of the educational authorities, representatives of secondary vocational and higher education institutions that are implementing programmes in secondary vocational education, employers who collaborate with colleges and technical schools, and representatives of BRICS embassies.
The participants discussed key issues concerning the development of vocational education and preparations for the annual meeting of BRICS Ministers of Education, which will be held in Kazan on 10-11 June 2024. Topics raised at the meeting included the development of international cooperation, collaboration with the labour market, equal opportunities and expanded access to vocational education, as well as growing demand for TVET and blue-collar professions.
The BRICS TVET Cooperation Alliance was established in 2022. The Alliance’s activities aim to create a multilateral platform to exchange information and best practices, encourage cooperation between countries, and expand employment opportunities in BRICS countries.
The event was organized by the Russian Ministry of Education and the Institute for the Development of Vocational Education. The Roscongress Foundation manages the events of Russia’s BRICS Chairship.
