BRICS Ministers of Justice to Meet in Moscow

The first Meeting of BRICS Ministers of Justice as part of Russia’s BRICS Chairship in 2024 will be held in Moscow on 18 September, with the group’s new members set to participate in the expanded meeting.

During the meeting, the Ministers will discuss priorities for cooperation in the field of justice within BRICS:

  • strengthening the international legal framework within BRICS for providing assistance in civil, family, and criminal cases, including for crimes involving the use of ICTs;
  • simplifying the process for recognizing and enforcing judgements and transferring and extraditing individuals convicted of a crime;
  • introducing technological solutions to advance the digitalization of justice;
  • exchanging experience in organizing systematic provision of legal services and legal aid.

The meeting will be chaired by the Russian Minister of Justice Konstantin Chuychenko.

The Meeting will wrap up with the adoption of a Concept for Cooperation between BRICS Ministries of Justice and a joint statement on the approval of the Concept.
