Кick-off meeting of BRICS agricultural cooperation working group was held online

On 5 March the virtual kick-off meeting of the BRICS Agricultural Cooperation Working Group was held online. This is the first meeting on the agricultural track within the Russian BRICS Chairship in 2024. The meeting was headed by Maxim Markovich, Director of the Department for International Cooperation and Agricultural Export Development of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

«As one of the largest participants in the global agricultural market, the Russian Federation intends to make the necessary efforts to develop and maintain the stability of international trade in order to ensure global food security», said Maxim Markovich.

In his presentation he outlined the priorities of the Russian Chairship in agriculture and presented an action plan for 2024.

The meeting participants expressed their confidence in continuing joint work to strengthen cooperation in agriculture within the BRICS framework to meet challenges in the field of global food security.
