Kazan to Host Meeting of BRICS Working Group on Research of Digital Markets Competition
The BRICS Working Group for the Research of Competition Issues in Digital Markets will hold a meeting at the Training and Methodological Centre of the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service in Kazan on 11 April 2024.
The meeting will kick off the official calendar of antimonopoly events for the year of Russia’s BRICS chairship in 2024.
The meeting of the BRICS Working Group for the Research of Competition Issues in Digital Markets will be co-chaired by the antimonopoly authorities of Russia and Brazil and will feature a discussion of the role of ‘soft law’ in building a pro-competitive market environment in the digital markets of BRICS countries.
Given the specifics of how digital markets function and their relatively active level of development lately, the antimonopoly authorities in different countries continue to focus on ways to find optimal approaches to regulating competitive relations in these markets.
The meeting participants will consider the latest trends and initiatives in the use of soft law mechanisms in the digital markets of BRICS countries, recap the interim results of the Working Group’s activities, and identify priorities for its further work.
Special attention will be paid to the application of the Reports on the Regulation of Competition in Digital Markets prepared by the Working Group (2019 and 2023) and the preparation of the Model Principles and Standards for the Activities of Digital Market Participants in BRICS Countries.
The Roscongress Foundation is managing the events of Russia’s BRICS chairship.
