Kazan to Host Meeting of Heads of BRICS National Statistical Agencies

The Heads of BRICS National Statistical Agencies will hold a meeting on 27–28 October in Kazan at which the 2024 statistical digest will be presented.

The parties will discuss the modernization of statistical processing through the introduction of advanced tools into statistics, work with new data sources, and the digital transformation of statistics. Particular attention will be paid to modern requirements for the profession of a statistician. In addition, at Russia’s initiative, the leaders will examine cooperation between BRICS professional and expert communities to improve communication with users.

BRICS statistical services have been publishing a statistical digest since 2010. It contains data about changes in the most important economic and social indicators of BRICS countries, including the economic activity of the population, standard of living, price indices, and the dynamics and structure of GDP. This year, new BRICS members were involved in work on the publication.

At the meeting in Kazan, the Russian Federal State Statistics Service will present a Business Intelligence platform that was created based on comparable official statistical information generated over the years that the digest has been published. Its functions will enable users to work with tabular and visualized information, as well as customize their search for statistical data to suit their needs.

The Roscongress Foundation manages the events of Russia’s BRICS chairmanship.
