BRICS ministers and heads of youth policy agencies meet in Ulyanovsk
On 25 July 2024, BRICS ministers and heads of youth policy agencies met as part of the BRICS Youth Summit.
“The UAE’s participation in this global event offers the young people of the UAE excellent opportunities and fresh prospects for developing their skills and gaining valuable experience via knowledge exchange with their peers from BRICS member states,” said Sultan Al Neyadi, UAE Minister of State for Youth Affairs.
The Minister added that the younger generation is a priceless asset for any society.
“Young people have tremendous potential stemming from their resilience and creativity. They can spearhead economic and social change for building a better future for the humanity,” he added.
The meeting’s participants discussed initiatives and proposals for further cooperation.
“We are truly happy to see a group of young people who wish to do important things for their countries, who seek to implement and coordinate resolutions adopted by the BRICS Youth Council. We also recognize the role of the younger generation and their voice, which today is heard at the highest levels,” added Asanda Luwaca, Executive Chairperson of South Africa’s National Youth Development Agency.
Also ways to stimulate educational and professional exchanges between BRICS youth, create favorable business conditions, improve young people’s digital literacy and develop the BRICS media platform were discussed.
The 4th BRICS Youth Camp to be held in the Ulyanovsk Region next month was also considered.
Special focus was laid on discussing the legacy of the World Youth Festival.
“Working on instructions from the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, we seek to preserve the legacy of the World Youth Festival. This is not only a matter of historical memory but also an investment in the future. It is an opportunity to pass over experience and knowledge, and consolidate efforts toward future development. Preservation of the Festival’s legacy might serve as a powerful tool for shaping a new generation of leaders able to work together to create a fairer, multipolar world,” said Pavel Abramov, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs.
In conclusion, the participants adopted the BRICS Youth Summit Declaration including proposals for several youth agenda areas such as education, innovation, entrepreneurship, volunteering and sports.
