Ulyanovsk to Host 10th BRICS Youth Summit
The BRICS Youth Summit will be held in Ulyanovsk on 22–26 July 2024, which will provide a unique opportunity for young leaders and entrepreneurs from BRICS countries to discuss key current issues and find joint solutions.
The Youth Summit will be a major event on the youth agenda of Russia’s BRICS Chairship in 2024. Ulyanovsk Region Governor Alexey Russkikh put forward the initiative to hold it in the region with the support of Federal Agency for Youth Affairs Director Ksenia Razuvayeva.
Speaking about the Youth Summit programme, Tatyana Ivshina, executive director of the Creative Industries Fund of the Ulyanovsk Region and director of the Russia–BRICS Project Office for International Youth Cooperation, noted that the event will focus on education, science, training, technology, innovation, health, sports, youth entrepreneurship, youth social work, and volunteering.
“Each topic is being studied by a separate BRICS member country. We are very pleased that Russia’s topic is education, science, and enlightenment. The business programme will include a meeting of the heads of youth affairs agencies. It is a working meeting that will focus on the strategy for developing youth cooperation in the BRICS space,” Ivshina said.
In addition to the extensive business programme, one of the key events of the Youth Summit will be the opening of the BRICS Universe international photo exhibition, which will be attended by pilot, cosmonaut, and Hero of the Russian Federation Sergey Kud-Sverchkov.
A presentation about the 10th BRICS Youth Summit was held on 3 April at the Our Culture pavilion at the International RUSSIA EXPO forum in Moscow. One of the speakers at the event was Deputy Director of the Creative Industries Fund of the Ulyanovsk Region Diana Kovela. She noted that this is not the first BRICS Youth Summit hosted by the region. Ulyanovsk Region Minister of Youth Development Artyom Miroshnikov said intensifying international youth cooperation is one of the top priorities of the region’s policy.
“We are truly honoured by the trust that has been placed in holding the BRICS Youth Summit in the region. The Ulyanovsk Region has the infrastructure to host events of this scale, as evidenced by the experience of previous years. Our region is unique. We are the birthplace of talent and a region that is proud of its history,” Miroshnikov said.
